Dr Felleng Yende – CEO of the FP&M SETA As an award-winning CEO of the Fibre Processing and Manufacturing Sector Education and Training Authority (FP&M SETA), Dr Yende demonstrated that building a consistent, strong organizational culture is one of the most important contributions a leader can make. Since taking over as CEO in 2013, she has a clearly articulated her sense of purpose and vision in the implementation of the National Skills Development Plan (NSDP) in the 13 industrial sub-sectors – Clothing, Textiles, Footwear, Leather, Pulp and Paper, Wood & Wood Products, Furniture, Forestry, Printing, Packaging, Print Media, Publishing and General Goods
Mr Vijayen Naidoo is the CEO of the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations, serving his second term since June 2022, after being first appointed in June 2017. He has held various positions in the education and training sector, including Chief Director for Occupational Quality Assurance, Senior Manager for Quality Assurance of Assessment at Umalusi, and Deputy Principal of a Technical College. With nearly 35 years of experience, his work focuses on skills development in the Post School Education and Training (PSET) Sector. Mr Naidoo is a board member of SAQA, NSA, CHE, and Umalusi, and is involved in various task teams and structures contributing to the development of key policies in education and training. His areas of expertise include systems planning, quality assurance, and assessment.
Elaine Brass is a Chartered Accountant of South Africa with over 20 years of experience. She began her career at Deloitte, where she served as Assurance Audit Manager for 2 years before joining the Auditor-General of South Africa in 2003. During her 4-year tenure at the Auditor-General, Elaine developed a passion for the public sector. In December 2007, she joined the HWSETA as CFO, where she remained for over 11 years, also serving as CEO for almost 3 years. Elaine's leadership has been instrumental in the HWSETA's consistent attainment of unqualified audits for 15 years, including four years of clean audits. With a deep insight into the health and social development sectors, Elaine has established extensive networks and is dedicated to skills development and making a positive impact on the people of South Africa.
Baakedi Motubatse is the Executive Manager: Education, Training and Quality Assurance (ETQA) at the HWSETA. She is responsible for strategic management of the HWSETA skills development quality assurance by ensuring optimal performance delivery against the annual performance plan targets. She has managed the development and improvement of various Quality Assurance projects across a range of organisations and has improved the accreditation division processes to be simpler and more manageable. Leading in quality assurance compliance and innovation Under her leadership the HWSETA ETQA division is leading in quality assurance and has implemented QCTO processes: EISA more than 20 times. Other SETA QAs approach the HWSETA for advice which include e-learning guidelines, conducting and coordinating EISA, RPL etc.
Natalie Nelson is a Skills Development Maven with a passion for Human Development. She is a Chartered Human Resource Practitioner (CHRP) and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Regenesys. Natalie has a strong background in operations and training management, with experience as Chief Executive Officer at Tetelestai Holdings Pty Ltd and Operations Manager at AIDC. She has also served as Non-Technical Training Manager at Renault South Africa and Assistant Director at PALAMA. Natalie is known for her leadership and visionary approach, as well as her ability to lead multicultural teams. She is a Member of the Institute of Directors South Africa and holds a certification as an HR Professional from SABPP. Natalie's career is driven by the belief that education and skills development can transform lives, aligning with her quote: "He who opens a school door, closes a prison" by Victor Hugo.
Sithembile Ngobese is a seasoned communications and corporate affairs professional with over two decades of experience. Her expertise includes strategic communications leadership, media relations, government advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and project management.
Notable career highlights include leading Siemens' involvement in the United Nations Climate Change Conference, creating a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Agriculture and Tiger Brands, and spearheading a sustainable retail model for rural communities. Sithembile holds an MBA, completed the Siemens Management Development Programme, and has a National Diploma in Media Studies. Currently, she serves as the Director of Corporate Affairs for Southern Africa at Unilever.
